Frontier Airlines Baggage Policy

Understanding Frontier Airlines Baggage Policy

Booking your flight with Frontier Airlines next time? Having knowledge of their baggage policy is very important if you want to save your money and time. So it is very important to understand what allowance you get with the ticket, what the charges are, and what the dimensions and size allowance of baggage are.

In this blog, we will try to cover every aspect of Frontier Airlines' baggage policy in very simple language. Whether you're allowed to carry it on or have a bigger suitcase, everything could be explained to you here, including what the active military personnel are entitled to for free.

What is Frontier Airlines' baggage policy?

Frontier Airlines' bag policy is primarily designed for budget travelers. As a low-fare airline, it allows passengers to exceed standard limits with flexible, affordable options to suit individual needs.

Personal item regulation:

Passengers are allowed to bring one personal item with them free of charge. The dimension of the items should not exceed 8x14x18 inches; it will include the handle, wheels, and strap. Passengers can keep their purses, tote bags, laptop bags, small briefcases, diaper bags, and kids' backpacks as their personal items.

Carry-on bag regulation:

Passengers can bring their carry-on bag, if it is included in the ticket, they can bring it for free; otherwise, they have to pay a fee for it. The charges will be decided on the basis of the fare option you are flying with and the destination.

  • Frontier Airlines' carry-on policy clearly mentions that its size must not exceed 10” D x 16” W x 24” H.
  • The weight of your carry-on bag must not exceed 35 lbs.
  • The bag's weight will be calculated during boarding.
  • For bags that exceed the dimensions and weight, passengers must pay additional charges.

Checked bag regulation:

  • The baggage policy of Frontier Airlines provides that the dimensions of the checked bags must not exceed 62 linear inches.
  • The maximum weight of the bag must not exceed 40 lbs.
  • If, while traveling with Frontier Airlines, your baggage weighs under 100 pounds and measures under 110 linear inches in size, then you can carry the bag.
  • Bags above 62 linear inches are considered oversized, and those above 40 lbs are considered overweight.

How to exceed baggage allowance with Frontier Airlines?

Frontier baggage policies allow their passengers the flexibility to add baggage anytime from booking to departure. You can also use online and offline methods to add the bag. Here is a simple guide for different processes:

While Booking (Online):

Adding baggage at the time of first booking is the cheapest alternative. Steps:

  1. Go to www.flyfrontier.com
  2. Select your flight and proceed to the passenger details
  3. Choose your baggage options
  4. Pay and finish your booking with baggage

This option will save you the most money; fees will be lowest at this time.

After Booking (Through the Manage Trip Section):

Baggage can be added online if tickets have already been booked.

Steps:

  • Proceed to the "Manage Trip" section on Frontier's website.
  • Enter the confirmation code and the last name.
  • Select your flight and then select "Add Baggage."
  • Make your selections and pay, and then obtain an updated confirmation.

Can be done up to 24 hours before departure, and just a bit more than at booking.

At Check-in (Online or Airport):

Online Check-in:

  • Log in via Frontier's website or mobile app (24 hours before departure)
  • Select "Check-in," then add baggage and pay

At the Airport (Offline):

What are the fees as per the baggage policy?

Frontier Airlines' baggage fee for a checked bag and a carry-on bag is determined by your ticket details. You can calculate it online on the baggage calculator

    • 51-100 pounds: $100
